Ten individuals found guilty of online harassment targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced accusations of spreading untruths regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A longstanding unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens ignored any factual proof disproving her claim choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.
The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
